Ranks and Advancement

Lion Scouts are kindergarteners (or age 5) who begin their Scouting journey through fun, family-focused adventures. With the support of a parent or guardian and caring leaders, Lions explore the outdoors, make new friends, learn important life skills, and discover the excitement of Cub Scouting.

Tiger Scouts are first graders (or age 7) who learn through fun, adventure, and family participation. With the support of a trained den leader and a parent or guardian, Tigers build confidence by completing exciting adventures, earning belt loops and their Tiger badge, while making friends and creating lasting memories along the way.

Wolf Scouts are second graders (or age 8) who build independence through hands-on adventures, outdoor activities, and teamwork. Guided by trained leaders and with family support, Wolves earn adventure loops and their Wolf badge while developing new skills, confidence, friendships, and a lifelong love of Scouting.

Bear Scouts are third graders (or age 9) who grow through outdoor adventures, teamwork, leadership, and hands-on activities. Guided by trained leaders and family support, Bears earn adventure loops and their Bear badge while building confidence, developing new skills, and preparing for the next stage of Scouting. 

Webelos Scouts are typically fourth graders (or age 10) who take on greater responsibility, leadership, and outdoor adventure. Guided by dedicated den leaders, Webelos earn activity pins and their Webelos badge while building confidence, strengthening Scout skills, and preparing for the transition to Scouts BSA. 

Arrow of Light is the highest rank in Cub Scouting, recognizing Scouts who have developed leadership, outdoor skills, and confidence. By completing advanced adventures, Arrow of Light Scouts prepare for the transition to Scouts BSA, earning the only Cub Scout badge that may be worn on a Scouts BSA uniform.
